Tesamorelin

A GHRH analogue with a fatty acid group shielding the chain, known from research on abdominal fat.

PropertyValue
TypeGHRH analogue with a fatty acid group
ReceptorGHRH receptor
Research fieldGrowth hormone, fat around the organs
Research statusApproved in the US for a specific use
FormPowder in a vial, cartridge, disposable pen

What it is

A version of GHRH with a fatty acid group at the start of the chain. That group shields it from breakdown, so it lasts longer than sermorelin.

How it works

It prompts the pituitary to release growth hormone, within the body’s own regulation. In the literature the emphasis is on fat around the organs rather than subcutaneous fat.

What the research shows

This is one of the few substances in this field for which large controlled human studies were run, resulting in approval in the United States for a defined medical use. That puts the level of evidence here on a different footing from most peptides.

Research status

An approved medicine in the US for a specific indication. The product sold as a research compound is not that; it is a different product with a different status.

Practical

Long chain with a fatty acid tail: more sensitive to temperature swings than a short peptide. In solution its quality declines faster than as a powder.
