Selank
Semax’s counterpart from the same Russian school: leaning towards calm rather than focus.
| Property | Value |

| Research field | Tension, mood, sleep |
| Research status | Clinically used in Russia |
| Form | Freeze dried powder |
What it is
Tuftsin is a small natural peptide from the immune system. Selank is that molecule with a short tail attached to shield it from enzymes.
How it works
The literature describes effects on GABA, the main inhibitory messenger in the brain, and on the balance of immune signalling substances involved in stress.
What the research shows
As with Semax, the centre of gravity of the literature lies in Russia. It is clinically applied there; elsewhere it is a research compound.
Research status
Registered in Russia, a research compound elsewhere.
Practical
An N-acetyl variant exists here too. In research Semax and Selank are regularly placed side by side because they work along different routes.
