5-Amino-1MQ
One of the few substances in this range that is not a peptide at all.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | Small molecule, not a peptide |
| Target | The enzyme NNMT |
| Research field | Fat cells, energy balance, weight |
| Research status | Preclinical |
| Form | Powder, also as a capsule |
What it is
A small organic molecule that blocks the enzyme NNMT. That enzyme is active in fat cells and has a hand in how much NAD+ stays available inside the cell.
How it works
By blocking NNMT, the literature reports, more NAD+ remains for energy metabolism. Animal models have looked at fat cell size and at energy expenditure alongside this.
What the research shows
The evidence is preclinical and largely from mouse models. It is a younger field than the GLP-1 family and there are no controlled human studies.
Research status
Preclinical.
Practical
Because it is not a peptide, the usual peptide rules do not apply: as a small molecule it is considerably more stable and less heat sensitive.
